SSI - Divecon (Dive Control Specialist)

Now that you are a Master Scuba Diver-Do you want to move to the next level? Dive Control Specialist, an assistant instructor position developed to be the entry-level dive leader


The Dive Control Specialist Course, a scuba diving course that runs from 7-12 days depending on the student, experience and pace of the course according to the skill level of the student.

What can a Dive Control Specialist do?

They can teach selected specialty courses, assist a lead instructor with group diving courses, work on Dive Boats and at Dive Centers, lead dive trips and dive tours.

**MINIMUM FOR REQUIREMENTS FOR DIVE CONTROL SPECIALIST*

1. Be at least 18 years old Proof of 40 logged open water dives (i.e. log book)
2. Current medical exam for diving signed by a physician (form in DiveCon Materials)
3. Advanced Open Water Certification
4. Stress Rescue Certification or equivalent from another agency
5. Current CPR certification and Current First Aid certification
6. Have logged experience in Navigation, Night Diving, Deep Diving and Search & Recovery
7. Provide own scuba equipment of leadership quality
8. Purchase DiveCon Course Materials
9. Attend all class, pool and Open water course dates (Some Saturday´s are required for pool/Open Water work)
10. Complete a waterman ship evaluation; swim test, snorkel test, survival float
11. Log a total of 60 open water dives by end of course

Serve a designated apprenticeship time period and practice teaching diving courses at the direction of a certified dive instructor.


Pass a comprehensive final exam
 

** The DiveCon candidate has 6-months to complete the course and finish the apprenticeship requirements.
